Partner, European Patent Attorney
Jurga elected as the new President of the Lithuanian Institute of Patent Attorneys
Our partner, European Patent Attorney Jurga Petniūnaitė, has been elected as the new President of the Lithuanian Institute of Patent Attorneys.
Jurga is one of the pioneers of intellectual property protection in Lithuania and has been a Patent Attorney for more than 20 years. The new position is a significant recognition of Jurga’s contribution to the field of intellectual property and a sincere commitment to the entire patent attorney community.
“There are currently 85 registered patent attorneys in Lithuania. It is a niche profession, sometimes still unrecognised or too narrowly understood. We therefore aim to increase its visibility and attractiveness, and to encourage as many professionals as possible to choose this career path, especially in engineering and other technical fields. We plan to focus more on up-skilling and training for existing local members to meet the needs and pace of a very dynamic and changing market. Cooperation with business and stakeholders is also high on the list of priorities,” says Jurga.
Institute of Patent Attorneys is an organization working since 1993 that brings together all Lithuanian patent attorneys who carry out their professional activities and implement their professional self-governance. A patent attorney is an independent adviser and representative of a client in the field of industrial property protection, with a background in the physical, biomedical, technological or social sciences.
